![]() I used to dual boot linux and os x on my old ppc mac, and I would change my UID in the linux (ubuntu) acct to 501. So, if I create a new dir in the shared directory from my vm, then I have to go back over to OS X, and chmod o+w it. Problem is, linux starts UIDs at 1000 I think, and OS X at 501. The problem with using the shared directory in /mnt/hgfs/my_shared_dir is that I can make my_shared_dir read/write for all on the mac side, and recursively, but as soon as I write something from the linux side (from the vm), it gets written with the default permissions of my os x user account. ![]() I am also running SL4 (this is an rhel 4 derivative). ![]() I don't find info in the fstab man page to do this. This would be lovely, what's the syntax for that?. ![]() You can map your Linux uid/gid to a compatible user in OS X in /etc/fstab. ![]()
